Uncle Ray Whispers to Me Throughout Most of My Mom’s Tap Recital

“…it’s just that old ladies and tap dancing, well, you know…I worry about their hips…it’s like they think because that Gregory Hines can do it…never mind that he’s…you know…well, at least your mother seems happy…which is important…she’s got to have something besides the library…and your father, god rest his soul…what would he think about the leggings…she never showed that much thigh when he was alive…are you going to say…something…because you’re the man of the house now…whatever you say goes…I’m sure you know that…how long can you tap to ‘Tea for Two’?…there’s a Denny’s near the on ramp…Moon Over My…do any of these women have husbands?…your mother looks tired…this might not be good for her heart…what did her doctor say?…all this kicking…well, it makes me uncomfortable…too sexual…and for women this age…our mother would have a fit…”
