–changed my life. I’m sure you get that all the time. And let me just say–

I was heartbroken when Toni Morrison won the Nobel Prize. Not that she didn’t deserve it, but, well, if they were going to give it to an American from the last 25 years.

It should’ve been you. Really, I’m not just saying that.

Plus, it should be for a lifetime of work, not a single piece. You know what I’m saying.

You can go ahead, Ms. Oates. It’s clear all the way down, and I’ll make sure it’s clear until you hit the pool.

It’s the least I can do.
