I just wish that he had the self-control to not hire my friend Tim O’Brenn as the Young Sergeant. I asked him not to, but he did.
As for Tim, he was mostly excited that he didn’t have to buy those boots and that he got to keep them. The fact that he also made 50 bucks was icing.
The Driver, he was the one who had the old car. Apparently my grandpa found him in the penny saver advertising his car for use as a prop, whatever that means. Grandpa said the fact that the man was handsome was just a pleasant surprise.
I just don’t want to think about it at all, but here I am, thinkin.
According to Tim, in the end for Grandpa apparently it was just enough to run the roles, to see Young Sergeant in boots and Driver with fear in the eyes as he got the citation. Then I guess everyone went their separate ways.
Tim still wears those boots sometimes just to fuck with me.
