I am thirteen, and a boy, and I share my room. And dad's always in the toolshed.

Yes, I am still in here.

Perhaps I will use all the hot water. It’s still a little early to tell.

Yes, I am planning on staying in here all day.

No, I was not aware that other people might need to use the bathroom.

No, I was not aware that there was only one bathroom in this house. I thought perhaps there was another one that I hadn’t yet noticed in the thirteen years I’ve lived here.

There is a gas station down the street you could use. Or the backyard. I do that sometimes. But only for number one.

No, I do not care that I am running up our water bill and our gas bill.

No, I don’t care if I get all pruney.

Yes, I am in fact shriveled up all over. Well, almost all over.

I am washing myself, is what I’m doing in here. Very, very thoroughly.

You were the one who said that cleanliness is next to godliness. I like to think of this place I am as cleanliness and godliness adjacent.
